About GMERS MCH, GANDHINAGAR

UNDER GRADUATE - M.B.B.S Course

GMERS Medical College, Gandhinagar was established by GUJARAT MEDICAL EDUCATION AND RESEARCH SOCIETY of Government of Gujarat. The college is awarding M.B.B.S degree (Undergraduate) which is recognized by Medical Council of India. The college is affiliated with the Gujarat University.

The first batch of undergraduate medical students was admitted to the Institute in the year 2012 and since then the Institute has been admitting 150 students every year to the M.B.B.S. Course.

The institute always ensures an adequate teacher student ratio. The undergraduate curriculum is constantly the subject for discussion at the faculty and Staff Council levels and required changes in the curriculum are brought about, off and on in order to evolve a pattern which is the most suitable for the Indian needs and conditions.

The study period of 5 ½ years is divided into four phases as under:

  • Semesters are of six months' duration each during I/II/III M.B.B.S. {Part I & II}.
  • Internship training is distributed into four quarters of three months' duration each.
  • Note: Ward teaching in clinical begins from II M.B.B.S. I term (III semester) and extends up to III M.B.B.S. III term (IX semester).
  • Each semester comprises of approximately 120 days of teaching with 8½ hours of teaching work. Examinations are taken at the completion of the respective terms and ward postings throughout the courses of study.
  • Preliminary examinations based upon the pattern of Gujarat University examination for I/II/III {Part I & II} M.B.B.S. are taken before the University examination.
  • As per the current guidelines of the University, minimum 75% attendance and 40% marks are required to be eligible to appear at the University examination.
  • Percentage of marks for Internal Assessment included in the 20 % total marks of University examination.
